As News from California, across the nation and world - Los Angeles Times reported, a coyote was documented on top of the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing over the 101 Freeway in Agoura Hills on Thursday. The National Park Service announced the milestone, marking the first large mammal documented directly on the structure. The sighting occurred just eight days after another coyote was spotted venturing up a slope leading to the crossing.

Wildlife biologist Jeff Sikich and wildlife branch chief Seth Riley noted that remote cameras captured the animal moving across the overpass at 1:30 a.m. before heading back north by 1:47 a.m. Scientists believe the two recent sightings involve different coyotes. The crossing, which features six thousand native plants, is slated to officially open Dec. 2 to provide safe passage for wildlife in the Santa Monica Mountains.
