Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance is set to bring its first multi-day festival experience to the United States, taking over Los Angeles on June 11 and 12, 2027. The two-day, three-stage event, produced in partnership with Insomniac, will transform Ace*Mission into a celebration of trance music, marking a significant expansion for the globally recognized brand.
For American trance fans, this dedicated U.S. festival format has been years in the making. Van Buuren, whose career has spanned over two decades, has made 'A State of Trance' practically synonymous with the genre, connecting listeners across continents through his radio show and bringing thousands together at his festival events worldwide. The move to a multi-day format in Los Angeles builds on previous North American appearances, including the single-night 'ASOT 1000' event held at Los Angeles' Banc of California Stadium in 2022.
The upcoming 2027 festival is the result of years of development between van Buuren and Insomniac founder and CEO Pasquale Rotella, both of whom have played key roles in shaping the international electronic dance music landscape. Insomniac, known for producing large-scale dance music events like Electric Daisy Carnival, Beyond Wonderland, and Nocturnal Wonderland, brings its extensive production infrastructure to the Los Angeles debut.
The festival promises to explore the wide spectrum of trance music across its three stages. Attendees can expect programming that spans the euphoric melodies of uplifting trance, the hypnotic intensity of psytrance, the increasingly influential sounds of melodic techno, and a nod to the genre's history with classic trance. This range reflects 'A State of Trance''s enduring appeal, celebrating the countless variations and approaches to the emotional release characteristic of trance music.
A central feature of the Los Angeles event will be an immersive indoor warehouse stage. This space is planned not only for performances throughout the weekend but also to host official afterparties, allowing attendees to continue the night without leaving the festival grounds. This arrangement addresses a familiar dilemma for dance music festival-goers: the desire to keep the energy going as the final sets conclude.
Beyond the stages, the organizers are also introducing an ASOT Hotel Experience. This aims to provide fans with a dedicated gathering place throughout the weekend, extending the festival atmosphere and creating additional opportunities for attendees to connect. This emphasis on community has long been central to the 'A State of Trance' identity, transforming the shared enthusiasm fostered by the radio show into a physical experience.
This ambitious expansion of the ASOT brand comes to a city with a substantial history in electronic dance music. For van Buuren, the festival represents another chapter in his career dedicated to bringing trance to global audiences, celebrating the genre's ability to connect listeners through melody, rhythm, and atmosphere.
The artist lineup for the inaugural U.S. festival has yet to be announced, building anticipation for who will join van Buuren for the event. Additional festival details are expected in the coming months.
