The Pacific Palisades community, still in the midst of recovery, now has a new centerpiece for dining with the opening of Nancy Silverton’s Spacca Tutto. The modern Italian steakhouse debuted on Thursday, October 15, in a neighborhood that has been slowly rebuilding since the devastating Palisades Fire in January 2025.
That fire tore through the coastal area, causing extensive damage to homes, displacing residents, and forcing nearly a dozen restaurants to close. Even now, two years later, traveling the Pacific Coast Highway through the Palisades, Malibu, and Santa Monica stretch reveals the lingering scars: ravaged properties, blue tarps, overgrown brush, and construction crews working to restore what was lost. Many of the wildfire survivors remain scattered across Southern California.
Palisades Village, a prominent retail and restaurant complex owned by developer Rick Caruso, was also damaged in the fire. Its recent reopening marks another step in the community's slow return, and several restaurants have started to welcome diners back, including Porta Via and Alphabet Bar and Grill. Spacca Tutto now joins them.
The collaboration between Silverton and Caruso began with a cold call, according to Caruso, who told Eater in 2025 that Silverton was “the first person I thought of” for the project. He described her as “an L.A. original” and presented her with “a big, crazy idea.” Spacca Tutto, which roughly translates to “go for it” or “give it your all” in Italian, draws inspiration from Silverton’s sister restaurant, Chi Spacca, in Hollywood.
The menu at Spacca Tutto offers a substantial experience, starting with a range of antipasti and salads designed to fill a table. Diners can expect chopped steak tartare, grilled prawns dressed simply with lemon and olive oil, anchovy crostini, and porchetta fredda—a classic cold-sliced Italian roast pork. Salad options include a beefsteak tomato with onion and olive pesto, and the same escarole Caesar salad served at Chi Spacca. Bread service includes sourdough boule from Bub and Grandma’s and a cheese-filled focaccia di recco, also familiar to Chi Spacca patrons.
For main courses, the secondi section features black cod with beluga lentils, a herby whole branzino alla piastra, and a Barnsley lamb chop with mint jus. As a steakhouse, the restaurant sources single servings of cuts like filets, skirts, hangers, and picanhas. For those seeking a larger presentation, options include a hefty 50-ounce porterhouse, a côte de boeuf rib steak, or a wagyu strip from Sir Harry Wagyu, a sustainable farm in Australia. To complement the meat, a selection of sauces like Silverton’s own steak sauce, bordelaise, béarnaise, au poivre, horseradish cream, and mustard are available. Sides round out the meal with fries, a loaded baked potato, broccolini with a dijon-garlic vinaigrette, or creamed spinach. The lunch menu mirrors dinner, adding panini made with hanger steak, porchetta, or fried cod.
The restaurant's interior, developed by design firm AvroKO, features two distinct dining rooms, seating 50 and 39 guests respectively. A striking 19-seat bar is a focal point, extending from the interior out to an eight-seat patio area. Unlike Silverton's other restaurants, Spacca Tutto's bar was intentionally designed to serve as the community's primary watering hole. The cocktail menu, crafted by the New School Hospitality team, includes spritzes, negronis, four different martinis, and an amaro cobbler featuring Montenegro, amaro, vermouth, cherry, orange, and cinnamon. The wine list, curated by Silverton’s Mozza Restaurant group, leans heavily on Italian and Californian selections. The bar is reserved for walk-ins only.
Spacca Tutto represents a collaboration between Silverton’s Mozza Restaurant Group and Caruso Restaurant Group, bringing together well-established entities in the Southern California culinary and development scenes. Rick Caruso is recognized as “one of Southern California’s most well-known billionaires and developers,” while Silverton continues to oversee operations at Pizzeria Mozza, Osteria Mozza, Mozza2Go, Chi Spacca, and Max & Helen’s. The New School Hospitality team, founded by industry veterans Paul Pruitt and Jared Meisler, has become a significant consulting company, with clientele including Pijja Palace and Alta Adams.
For Silverton, the project holds personal significance. She shared that it “feels like it’s going to be a personal restaurant in a beautiful community.” As Pacific Palisades and other affected areas rebuild and heal, the opening of Spacca Tutto offers a tangible sign of renewal and hope for Southern Californians.
Spacca Tutto is located at 15225 Palisades Village Lane, Pacific Palisades, CA, 90272. It is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for lunch and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for dinner. Reservations are recommended and can be made via OpenTable.
