Los Angeles now has another destination for those seeking an evening that feels a bit out of the ordinary, though this one comes with a hidden entrance. The historic Hollywood Roosevelt hotel has opened its Cinegrill Theater to an immersive, adults-only cabaret called “Down the Rabbit Hole,” which reinterprets Lewis Carroll’s Wonderland.
The experience begins before guests even find their seats at the 7000 Hollywood Boulevard venue. Entry to the Cinegrill is gained by stepping through a doorway concealed behind a bookcase within the hotel. Once inside, attendees are transported into a 90-minute show that combines burlesque, dance, and cinematic visuals with characters drawn from the familiar Wonderland narrative, all designed for an 18-and-over audience. Producers describe the experience as embodying "glamour and danger."
Tracy Phillips serves as both director and a choreographer for “Down the Rabbit Hole.” Additional choreography contributions come from Liana Blackburn, Denna Thomsen, Robert Green, Amy Ryerson, Kyra Cole, and Iyana Monet. Throughout the performance, cocktails and light bites are available for purchase.
"Down the Rabbit Hole" runs every other Saturday at 8 PM, with performances scheduled through October 24. Tickets for the cabaret are available in several tiers. General admission starts at $49, offering first-come, first-served seating along the outer edges of the theater. For those seeking better views and more comfortable seating, General Admission Plus tickets are $89, Premier tickets are $109, and VIP options are priced at $129.
The Cinegrill Theatre, leaning into its Old Hollywood heritage this fall, isn’t exclusively dedicated to Wonderland’s wilder side. On alternating Saturdays, when "Down the Rabbit Hole" is not on, the venue hosts "Harlow Gold," a cabaret described as "punky" and "Weimar-inspired."
Beyond the late-night shows, the theater also offers a new "Classic Cinema Night" series. Film critic José Ignacio Cuenca hosts these screenings, which take place every other Wednesday. The schedule includes iconic films such as *The Godfather* on September 16, *Casablanca* on September 30, *Taxi Driver* on October 14, and *Psycho* on October 21. These events, alongside the live cabarets, aim to evoke a sense of "vintage Hollywood with cocktails, velvet seats and considerably fewer rules," establishing the Cinegrill as a versatile new fixture in Hollywood's entertainment landscape.
