Artist Cj Hendry is bringing her plush fabric flowers to Venice this month as part of a multi-city retail tour. As Time Out Los Angeles reported, the temporary installation, titled Flower Shop, runs from November 8 through November 21 at 6 Rose Avenue, situated just a block away from the Venice boardwalk.
Hendry’s plush, floral-inspired sculptural work has drawn long lines of visitors in previous appearances elsewhere. In New York, her faux-floral installations regularly saw crowds stretching for blocks, eventually leading to a permanent physical store location where patrons can browse the soft blooms year-round.
The Venice stop is part of a broader 14-city tour designed to bring the plush creations directly to different regions. The temporary Venice storefront will operate daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. throughout its two-week run in Southern California, offering local residents a chance to view and purchase the pieces without traveling across the country.
Visitors to the Rose Avenue space will find several varieties of fabric flowers available for purchase. Organizers have indicated that the inventory for this specific location includes soft blooms created with Venice in mind. Individual stems are priced at $10 each. For shoppers looking to build a complete arrangement, buying nine flowers includes a tenth stem at no additional cost.
Organizers note that this event differs from Hendry's previous Flower Markets, which featured free items in a larger setting. The Venice installation operates strictly as a retail environment. Hendry explained in a released statement that while her earlier markets aimed to unite communities through shared experiences, expanding into retail shops allows people in multiple cities to interact directly with her tactile creations through localized spaces.
Because Hendry’s installations typically draw large crowds, organizers suggest planning ahead when heading toward the beach area. No advance registration, tickets, or RSVPs are required to visit the storefront, and items are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendance is open to walk-ins throughout the operational hours.
For those concerned about items selling out early in the run, organizers confirmed that fresh inventory will be restocked continuously over the entire duration of the pop-up. The installation is scheduled to close its doors following its final day of operation on November 21.
