A free, all-ages community gathering designed to highlight local creators, small businesses, and civic organizations recently returned to downtown Los Angeles. As Yahoo Finance reported, AEG hosted its Fiestóncito celebration on October 24 at Peacock Place at L.A. LIVE, drawing families and residents for a afternoon centered around Southern California culture, music, arts, and local athletics.
At the core of the gathering was a community mercadito inspired by traditional Latin American marketplaces. Ten local independent makers and small business owners set up shop in the plaza, offering attendees a wide selection of goods. The vendor lineup featured handcrafted items ranging from apparel, hand-painted arts and crafts, and handmade jewelry to botanical products, herbal goods, and traditional Oaxacan artisan items. By bringing these vendors directly into Peacock Place, the event gave small-scale entrepreneurs a platform to introduce their brands and creations to new customers inside one of the city's highest-traffic public gathering centers.
Alongside the retail marketplace, several regional non-profit organizations were integrated into the event space to share resources and connect directly with attendees. Representatives from CARECEN, an organization dedicated to supporting Central American communities in the region, were on hand alongside team members from the Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory. Las Fotos Project, a local initiative focused on empowering young women through photography instruction and mentorship, also participated to raise awareness for its creative programming. Additionally, representatives from the Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan attended to share family health and wellness information with visiting residents.
Interactive arts and sports programming provided additional outlets for attendees throughout the day. Visitors contributed directly to a collaborative community mural situated in the plaza and participated in various hands-on arts and crafts projects. On the athletic side, major sports franchises brought interactive fan experiences to the square. The LA Kings set up a puck shoot activity sponsored by the team's Hockey Development Program, which works to introduce young Angelenos to hockey. Meanwhile, the LA Galaxy soccer club hosted an interactive goal shoot challenge, giving attendees a chance to test their athletic skills on site.
Musical entertainment was provided throughout the celebration by a lineup of local Los Angeles artists and collectives. Regional DJs CHABOI and Bianca Maieli of the Suelta DJ Collective performed sets alongside MIDI Riperton representing Ladies of Sound. On-site food and beverage offerings for attendees were provided by Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar.
The event was produced with support from sponsor Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan. Additional event partners assisting with the program included AXS, AEG DEI, Mister Psychedelia, and L.A. LIVE. Together, the collaborating partners aimed to construct an accessible civic space that elevated neighborhood voices, supported independent local vendors, and offered residents an easy way to connect through shared local programming.
