Vinylcon! Brings Its Biggest Record Fair yet to Downtown L.a.

VinylCon! is spinning its way back into Downtown Los Angeles this month, promising its largest gathering of record dealers and collectors to date. The two-day event, set for August 22 and 23 at the California Market Center, aims to serve both serious "crate diggers" and those just rediscovering physical music.

Founded by Kobi Waldfogel, VinylCon! has grown since its start, expanding from initial editions in cities like Atlanta and Denver, and now returning to L.A. after a previous local event drew over 4,000 attendees. This time, organizers state they expect an even larger presence of dealers, including a notable number of international sellers traveling from places such as the U.K., offering a deeper selection of genres, eras, and rarities.

More than 100 dealers will be on site, ready for collectors to sift through their selections. Beyond the bins, the fair features an all-vinyl DJ lineup curated by DJ and collector Skeme Richards. The roster includes familiar names to any hip-hop head, such as legendary producer Easy Mo Bee and People Under the Stairs co-founder Thes One. They'll be joined by a substantial group of L.A.-based DJs and collectors, including Richards himself, Mike Wallace, Ally O'Neil, Hector Waluyo, Aaron Paar, Randy Ellis, FROZ1, Dan Ubick, AM Sounds, McNasty, EZDUZIT, and Tripledouble, all spinning solely from vinyl.

For those who need a break from record flipping, VinylCon! will also host booths from various record labels. Attendees can visit setups from Jazz is Dead, Stones Throw, Mr. Bongo, In Sheep's Clothing, Daptone Records, and Penrose Records. The event also boasts partnerships with audio equipment makers like Pioneer DJ by AlphaTheta, and other industry players such as APM Music, Audio Media Group, and Tone Optic. KCRW is listed as the official radio partner for the fair.

Hydration and sustenance will be readily available to keep attendees fueled for their vinyl hunt. The bar service will be managed by Only the Wild Ones, the Venice-based analog listening bar, offering natural wines and small-batch spirits. For food, DTLA Ramen will be on hand, alongside Urli Bird for your caffeine needs. VinylCon! takes place at the California Market Center, located at 110 E. 9th St. in Los Angeles. Tickets are currently available for purchase for the August 22 and 23 event.
