Southern California is gearing up for a busy mid-October, with a wide array of events stretching from the coast to downtown. This week's lineup includes high-energy music performances, unique culinary debuts, and community gatherings supporting important causes. Residents across Los Angeles and beyond have plenty of options for getting out and experiencing the region.
The music scene is particularly active. The Greek Theatre will host Role Model for his third headlining tour, supporting his recent album, "Chuck Timely & the Hourglass," with indie artist Samia opening. Meanwhile, Charli XCX brings her "experimental pop-rock-dance-electronic show" to Los Angeles for two nights on her Music, Fashion, Film Tour, following her "critically acclaimed BRAT album," with Underscores providing EDM support. Not to be outdone, a New York-native rock quartet is set for three nights at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery as part of their "Getting Killed Again tour," a band "The New Yorker" ranked for having the "best album of 2025." For fans of house music, the historic Teddy’s Speakeasy at the Hollywood Roosevelt is slated to feature a lineup of queer DJs "sourced from LA’s thriving underground music scene" at a female-directed event. Adding to the diversity, a Puerto Rican artist will make a stop at the Inuit Dome for her "Late Checkout" sophomore headlining tour, promising a high-energy performance.
The performing arts also have a notable presence with LA Opera bringing the "drama-filled Carmen" to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Opening night will offer free simulcasts in Santa Monica and Hacienda Heights, complete with subtitles and family-friendly activities.
For those with a taste for something new, Golden Road Brewing is marking its 15th anniversary by debuting a candy-inspired brew. The celebration includes free cake and a special anniversary glass for attendees. Dessert enthusiasts can head to The Secret Oven at 1219 Abbot Kinney Blvd., where Last Crumb and Gordon Ramsay are introducing their "Sticky, Not Stuck cookie-pudding hybrid." This free, innovative sweet treat will be available while supplies last, celebrating the launch of HexClad Bakeware.
Dining establishments are also refreshing their offerings. Saltie Girl LA is upgrading its menu with "new fall dishes," adding to its already "expansive seafood options." Josephine is offering a "refreshing take" on the classic steak frites with a limited-edition October menu item: Au Poivre Ice Cream. For a more elevated experience, Sky Room is hosting an Autumn Harvest Afternoon Tea, featuring "fall flavored bites and champagne" alongside a 13-story-high view of the city. Whiskey connoisseurs can enjoy a guided tasting of WhistlePig’s rye whiskeys, paired with curated cheese and charcuterie selections, with the option to take a bottle home.
Community events are also on the calendar. The 42nd Annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles will honor Michaela Jaé Rodriguez with the Voice of Visibility Award. Rodriguez, an advocate for HIV/AIDS awareness and the first openly transgender actress to win a Golden Globe, will be recognized at the fundraising event, which also features a live performance from David Archuleta at the kick-off ceremony. The Festival of Lights will be celebrated with a culinary collection from "L.A.’s most loved South Asian restaurants," a daytime event that also includes performances from a DJ, Bollywood dancing, cultural music, and a pop-up market with South Asian vendors.
Runway Playa Vista will host its Fall Fest, promising local vendors, seasonal activities, and live music, along with a Bead It Bracelet Bar and the LA Book Truck. A more unusual event is a "Whalefall-inspired pool event," where participants are "guaranteed that no guest will be swallowed by a huge oceanic creature," and can take pictures with a "giant poolside whale statue" in anticipation of a new 20th Century Studio's movie.
Fashion also makes an appearance, as an Australian menswear line launches in Los Angeles for the first time, following its successful debut in New York City. The brand's new collection, "Canary on the Frontier," will be available in-store before its global online launch on October 24.
Finally, Shutters on the Beach is running "A Spirited Tribute to a Cure" throughout the month, donating $1 to breast cancer care for every cocktail purchased.
