Southern California sports fans making their way to SoFi Stadium in Inglewood this Sunday for the Chargers’ first home game of the season against the Arizona Cardinals will have a free shuttle option courtesy of Metro. The transportation agency announced it will offer free shuttle service to the stadium.
The Chargers are set to kick off against the Cardinals at 1:25 p.m. on Sunday. For those planning to use public transit, the Metro SoFi Stadium Express shuttle service will begin running three hours before kickoff, starting at 10:25 a.m.
To catch the free shuttle, fans will need to take either the Metro C Line or K Line rail service to the LAX/Metro Transit Center Station. Once there, the free stadium shuttle can be boarded at Bus Bay 8. Metro specifies that these shuttles will operate frequently, departing every three to five minutes, ensuring a steady flow of fans to the stadium before the game starts.
While the shuttle ride directly to SoFi Stadium is free, standard Metro fares still apply for the train or bus rides used to reach the LAX/Metro Transit Center Station. A regular one-way fare for Metro trains and buses is $1.75. This means fans should plan for the cost of reaching the shuttle's departure point.
For those driving part of the way, Metro also detailed several parking options available at various rail stations. Parking will cost $3 at the Aviation/LAX, Crenshaw, Hawthorne/Lennox, and Willowbrook/Rosa Parks stations along the C Line. Additionally, the Fairview Heights Station on the K Line will also offer $3 parking.
Alternatively, several C Line stations provide free parking. These include the El Segundo, Douglas, and Redondo Beach stations. It's important to note for those planning their route that there will be no parking available directly at the LAX/Metro Transit Center Station, which serves as the shuttle's main boarding point.
After the game concludes, the return shuttle service will also be available. Metro stated that shuttles back to the LAX/Metro Transit Center Station will commence at the start of the fourth quarter of the game and will continue for 90 minutes after the final whistle, giving fans ample time to exit the stadium and catch their ride back to the rail lines.
Beyond the shuttle and rail lines, fans have other public transit options for reaching SoFi Stadium. Metro bus lines 115, 117, and 212 all have stops within walking distance of the stadium.
