La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts has announced its special events lineup for the 2026-27 season, promising a range of concerts, dance productions, and family-focused shows for Southern California residents. The programming, revealed Monday by theater officials, includes appearances by acclaimed actress and singer Betty Buckley, Los Lobos, and “Dancing With the Stars” professionals Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd.
The season kicks off in October 2026. On Oct. 17, Ballet Folklórico Mexicano de Carlos Moreno will present “Día de los Muertos,” offering a cultural dance performance. The following day, Oct. 18, Betty Buckley will take the stage in concert, accompanied by pianist Christian Jacob. Later that month, on Oct. 23, Oingo Boingo Former Members are scheduled to perform. This group features original members Johnny “Vatos” Hernandez, Sam “Sluggo” Phipps, Carl Graves, Steve Bartek, and John Avila, alongside JosÉ Maldonado, Mike Glendinning, Freddy Hernandez, and Brian Swartz.
As the holidays approach, November brings Jim Henson’s “Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock Live!” on Nov. 27. Written, directed, and choreographed by John Tartaglia, this production features characters from the beloved television series in a live stage show. Holiday programming begins Nov. 29 with “Blue Suede Christmas,” an Elvis Presley tribute show featuring Scot Bruce.
December continues the festive spirit with “A Celtic Christmas” from The Celtic Tenors on Dec. 6. Ballet Folklórico Mexicano de Carlos Moreno returns on Dec. 12 to present “Navidad en Mexico.” The Glenn Miller Orchestra will bring “In the Christmas Mood” to the stage on Dec. 13. Capping off the holiday offerings, “Nutcracker! Magical Christmas Ballet” will be performed on Dec. 20, featuring international dancers, acrobatics, and Tchaikovsky’s classic score.
The 2027 portion of the lineup begins in January. On Jan. 17, young audiences can look forward to “Curious George: The Golden Meatball,” a musical production. A more unique offering arrives on Jan. 22 with “Moonlight Princesses: A Tribute to Demon Hunters.” This K-pop-themed theatrical concert is described as not affiliated with or endorsed by Netflix or the creators of “Demon Hunters.”
Later in the spring, March 2027 brings two notable performances. On March 19, Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd will appear in “Burn the Floor Presents Maks & Peta Live!” The show will feature Ballroom and Latin dancing, accompanied by a live band. The following day, March 20, comedians Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley, known for their #IMOMSOHARD web series, will perform.
All announced events are scheduled to take place at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, located at 14900 La Mirada Blvd. Residents can expect further details on tickets and showtimes as the dates approach.
