An El Cajon man is slated for arraignment next week on charges stemming from an alleged bottle-throwing incident at a Palm Springs pool party that injured six people. Milad Thamer Youssef, 35, was arrested last month following an investigation by the Palm Springs Police Department regarding the disturbance.
Youssef faces serious charges, specifically six counts of assault with a deadly weapon. These charges also include sentence-enhancing great bodily injury allegations. He is currently being held on $60,000 bail at the Benoit Detention Center. His initial court appearance, the arraignment, is scheduled for Tuesday at the Larson Justice Center in Indio.
The incident unfolded in the early hours of August 9, around 1:30 a.m., during the Splash House music celebration. This event took place at the Palm Springs Air Museum, a venue located on Gene Autry Trail. According to information released by the police, a fight erupted during the festivities. Authorities allege that Youssef was a direct participant in this altercation. During the confrontation, police state that Youssef retrieved glass bottles from the poolside area and then threw them at various attendees. It remains unclear whether he was aiming at specific individuals or generally at the crowd.
The alleged actions resulted in injuries to four women and two men. Court papers, which maintain privacy for victims, identify the female victims by their initials as “A.C.,” “I.A.,” “N.G.,” and “S.P.” The two male victims are identified as “A.P.” and “D.G.” The injuries sustained by these six individuals were generally described as minor. They all reportedly stemmed from contact with broken glass. Medical attention varied: some victims received treatment on-site from paramedics, while others were transported to the nearby Desert Regional Medical Center for further evaluation and care.
Officers who were assigned to provide security at the Palm Springs Air Museum during the Splash House event were immediately notified and summoned to the scene. However, by the time law enforcement personnel reached the specific area of the disturbance, the defendant, Youssef, had allegedly already fled, according to statements from the police department.
The investigation continued in the days following the event. Youssef eventually turned himself in to investigators five days after the alleged incident occurred. He was subsequently booked into jail. Prosecutors officially filed a criminal complaint against him last week, detailing the charges he now faces.
