The annual Clive Davis and Recording Academy Pre-Grammy Gala is scheduled for February 6 at the Beverly Hilton. This upcoming event will be the first edition of the gala since the death of influential music executive Clive Davis in June.

The gala, traditionally held on the eve of the Grammy Awards, will serve to honor Davis' extensive life and career. Recording Academy officials anticipate performances by major recording artists as part of the celebration. The 2027 Grammy Awards are slated for February 7.

Clive Davis passed away on June 22 at the age of 94. A four-time Grammy winner, Davis founded the gala five decades ago. He began presenting the event in partnership with the Recording Academy in 2009.

Grammys CEO Harvey Mason Jr. reflected on Davis' impact, noting that he built the gala into a significant event the entire music community looked forward to for decades. Mason Jr. stated that Davis' motivation was not for personal recognition, but rather his love for the music community, his belief in the power of music, and his understanding of the importance of bringing people together to celebrate it. Mason Jr. also shared that he considered Davis a friend and mentor, learning much from their collaboration. He expressed confidence that Davis would want the show to continue this year, emphasizing that celebrating his legacy is an honor.

Traditionally, the annual event attracts prominent figures from various sectors including music, film, television, sports, and politics. It is known for featuring performances and collaborations by major artists.

Davis was a pivotal figure in the recording industry, instrumental in launching or developing the careers of numerous iconic artists. His influence touched the careers of talents such as Whitney Houston, Janis Joplin, Bruce Springsteen, Carlos Santana, Billy Joel, Aretha Franklin, Barry Manilow, and Alicia Keys. Throughout his career, he led Columbia Records and founded Arista Records, earning four Grammy Awards. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2000, and the Grammy Museum's Clive Davis Theater was named in his honor in 2010.

Organizers have indicated that further details regarding the 2027 gala, including the lineup of performers, will be announced in the coming months.
