San Diego Union-Tribune reported that thousands of visitors attended a Fleet Week San Diego event at Naval Base San Diego on Saturday, offering the public tours of three active-service warships: the USS Jackson, the USS Chafee, and the USS Michael Monsoor.
Naval Base San Diego commanding officer Capt. Brian Bungay told San Diego Union-Tribune that the event aims to let taxpayers see where tax dollars go and interact with young service members operating the vessels.
Fleet Week San Diego runs from Nov. 1 through Nov. 15, featuring free events open to the public.
