The Los Angeles Zoo has introduced a new membership program, designed to offer more flexibility and value, particularly for those living in the region. Announced Monday, the revamped program aims to provide benefits that, according to Zoo officials, "pays for itself in as few as two visits." The changes come after officials at the Griffith Park institution reviewed feedback from its current members, shaping the new options around their stated needs.

Among the key additions to the membership lineup are the choice to include a flexible guest at any tier and a specific discount tailored for Los Angeles County residents. These new features are intended to make regular visits more accessible and convenient for local families and individuals. A membership to the LA Zoo grants unlimited free visits for an entire year, covering standard daytime access and a range of events held during the day. Members also receive larger discounts on tickets for special nighttime attractions, such as the popular L.A. Zoo Lights.

Starting this Monday, the new pricing structure and benefits for annual memberships are in effect. An Individual Membership, designed for one named adult, will cost $75. For residents of Los Angeles County, this tier is available at a discounted rate of $65. This option provides a year of unlimited access for frequent solo visitors or those who plan to bring different guests on separate occasions using day passes.

For those who often visit with a single companion, the Individual Plus Membership offers unlimited visitation for one named adult, along with one flexible guest per visit. This tier is priced at $125, with Los Angeles County residents eligible for a rate of $115. This flexibility allows members to bring a friend, family member, or partner without needing to name them on the membership itself.

Families have two primary options under the new structure. The Family Membership provides unlimited visits for two named adults and all children residing in their household. This comprehensive package is set at $185, but local residents in Los Angeles County can secure it for $155. It’s a straightforward option for households looking to make the Zoo a regular outing for everyone.

The most expansive option for families is the Family Plus Membership. This tier covers unlimited visitation for two named adults, all household children, and includes the added convenience of one flexible guest per visit. Priced at $235, the Family Plus Membership is available to Los Angeles County residents for $200. This tier caters to larger groups or families who frequently bring an extra relative or friend along for their zoo adventures.

Beyond the specific tiers, the Zoo has also implemented a new add-on guest policy. For $65, members at any level can bring an additional flexible guest—who can be an unnamed adult or child—to accompany them on their visits. This allows for greater customization, letting members scale their visit capacity as needed without committing to a higher-tier membership permanently if their needs vary.

For those who are already LA Zoo members, their current benefits will continue without interruption until their next renewal date. When it comes time to renew, existing members will be upgraded to the new tier structure. For those who choose to renew early, their membership will be extended by 12 months from their original expiration date, ensuring they benefit from the new program without losing any current validity. Further information on all membership benefits, including member-only tours and events, is available through the official Los Angeles Zoo channels.
